Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is one of the largest and most advanced behavioral healthcare organizations in the country. Devereux California is nestled near the beaches between the Pacific Coast and Santa Ynez mountains, Devereux California is a therapeutic behavioral health treatment facility offering residential services, community living, day programs, and clinical services for adults with multiple diagnoses, including autistic spectrum disorders, emotional and/or behavioral differences, intellectual and developmental disabilities, dementia and other cognitive disorders.
Under the supervision of a BCBA, the Behavior Interventionist works directly with clients with behavioral challenges and provides staff training to support generalization throughout the day. Additional duties include but are not limited to:
- The primary function of the Behavior Interventionist is to reduce problem behaviors while teaching functionally equivalent replacement behaviors.
- The interventionist will implement the behavior plans of each individual, will respond with the appropriate proactive and reactive strategies to reduce problem behaviors and support with conducting assessments and D-PBIS.
- May provide direction, training and mentorship to family members and staff of individual served relative to behavioral strategies and implementation of individual behavior programs.
- Will work under the direction of a BCBA and will receive ongoing training and supervision
The hours for this position will vary based on client needs, schedules may vary between 9am-6:30pm and 12pm-8:30pm. Typical work days will be Monday-Friday, but weekend availability may be needed on rare occasions. Initial training and clients may be based in Santa Barbara/Goleta and candidates must be able to work in the area as needed.
Qualifications:
- Twelve (12) semester units in applied behavior analysis and one year of experience in designing and/or implementing behavior modification intervention services; or
- Two (2) years of experience in designing and/or implementing behavior modification intervention services.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to take and pass Safe and Positive Approaches (S&PA) training, including initial training during orientation and subsequent re-certifications
- Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending and standing are required
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment
- Frequent outside activities with exposure to sunlight and potentially inclement (severe, rough, harsh or stormy weather
- From the starting point of hire and every 12 months thereafter, will receive an annual TB test showing evidence you are free
