REGISTERED BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN

Full-Time, Hourly $25.00 - $27.50/hour

The Role: As a Registered Behavior Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. You will work closely with them, assisting with daily living activities, fostering their independence, promoting their well-being, and helping them connect with their communities. You will work closely with the Behavior Intervention Specialists/Assistants in monitoring data collection, implementing behavioral support strategies and supporting program needs. What You'll Do

  • Observe and interview staff regarding behavioral concerns to inform the Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS)/Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) Assistant.
  • Implement specific behavior support strategies as outlined in the Behavior Support Plan (BSP) including but not limited to, preference assessments, functional communication, and differential reinforcement interventions.
  • Implement and monitor ongoing data collection to assess progress of the BSP.
  • Observe staff working with individuals to ensure BSP is being followed.
  • Provide feedback and modeling for staff on implementation of behavior support strategies.
  • Collect and record data, complete progress reports regarding behavioral, social skills and life skills in a timely manner.
  • Implement and monitor ongoing data collection to assess progress of communication programs.
  • Ensure consistency between existing the communication plan and needs identified in the BSP.
  • Coordination of review and monitoring usage of SCIP-R.
  • Provide (with BIS/BIS Assistant) inservice training for staff regarding behavior plans, general behavior support methods and individual needs, etc.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, IDTs, annual meetings.
  • Attend departmental meetings with supervisor and peers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of procedures for handling emergencies.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with state and federal regulations in the psychology, communication, and life safety areas of support.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of DDI’s policies on the treatment of problem behavior.
  • Determine when it is appropriate to inform/ask supervisor for assistance.
  • Advance own knowledge of the field by reading, attending continuing education opportunities, etc.
  • Independently work the hours and times necessary to meet the needs of the caseload.
  • Work and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Serve as a role model of professional behavior in such areas as dress, interpersonal relations, and job performance.

What You Need For The Role

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, understand and follow safety guidelines.
  • Must have completed 40 hours of RBT qualified training.
  • Successfully completed an RBT initial competency assessment.
