Job Description

Energy Specialist

The Office of Energy and Environment within the Ohio Department of Development is presently hiring for an Energy Specialist to join a team of dedicated individuals who help drive Ohio's energy future through innovation, efficiency, and community impact. 

 

What you’ll do: 

 

  • Delivering expert guidance on energy efficiency, distributed energy, and advanced energy technologies.

  • Supporting and implementing state and federal energy programs. 

  • Conducting technical reviews of energy projects and evaluating their impact on energy use, emissions, and productivity. 

  • Monitoring and evaluating grant-funded projects, including on-site inspections and compliance reviews. 

  • Developing and maintaining program guidelines, technical standards, and training materials.

  • Preparing proposals and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including federal agencies.

  • Representing the department at meetings, conferences, and training sessions.

  • Providing high-quality customer service and fostering collaborative relationships with partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

-Completion of undergraduate core program in assigned engineering area (e.g., mechanical, chemical) to include physics & chemistry. 

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. 
 

Supplemental Information

Requires travel – must provide own transportation or, in order to operate State vehicle, must possess valid driver’s license.

Field work includes working in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawlspaces), industrial plants &/or agricultural businesses/lands.
