Responsibilities
- Support residents by providing mentorship, conflict management, and emotional support to promote well-being and community cohesion
- Assist with daily living activities, ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines
- Coordinate access to community resources such as mental health services, addiction counseling, child & family services, and other local support networks
- Foster cultural sensitivity by working effectively with culturally diverse communities and underserved populations
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information related to residents’ personal circumstances
- Collaborate with families and service providers to develop individualized care plans that address mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or high-risk needs
- Lead educational activities and teach life skills that promote independence and resilience among residents
Skills
- Strong cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Proven experience working with children, youth, or families in social work or caregiving roles
- Ability to manage conflicts effectively while maintaining a positive environment
- Excellent client communication skills with an emphasis on empathy and active listening
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions or substance use disorders through addiction counseling or peer support techniques
