A day in this role
You clock in, review your queued work orders, and map out the repair sequence for a DEUTZ engine overhaul. Parts are already pre-ordered because you planned ahead; anything missing is coordinated with our Parts Specialists. You diagnose a customer-reported issue, confer with the Service Department for approval on a complex repair, complete the work to spec, and button up the cosmetic finish so the unit looks as good as it runs. Throughout the day you keep the bay spotless, document time and tasks precisely, and treat every customer interaction with respect and honesty. Before you leave, you return all unused parts per DEUTZ guidelines and help file a warranty claim on a completed job.

Core responsibilities
- Execute preventative maintenance and repair work on DEUTZ and non-DEUTZ products in a shop environment.
- Triage customer concerns and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
- Plan repair methods and sequences; pre-order required parts and materials.
- Perform safe, high-quality repairs and verify completion against assigned scope.
- Deliver clean, professional cosmetic finish on all completed work.
- Return all unused parts in accordance with DEUTZ Power Center return guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility in partnership with the Sales & Operations Manager.
- Communicate with integrity; pair every identified failure with a validated solution.
- Complete work orders and time sheets promptly and accurately.
- Consult with the DEUTZ Service Department for technical accuracy and repair approval.
- Assist with processing warranty claims and customer invoices.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Travel and reporting
- Supervisory responsibilities: N/A
- Travel: approximately 0–10% domestic and international, based on business needs
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to maintain DOT medical card status
- Valid driver’s license; insurable by the company
- Experience: 4 years as a Shop Technician, or 2 years as a Field Technician, or 2–3 years as a Remote Field Service Technician
Preferred Background
- ~2 years of diesel engine experience
- 2–5 years repairing construction equipment
- Strong computer skills; experience with Serdia, Serpic, Fieldaware, Word, and Excel
- Training/certifications in heavy equipment and diesel engine repair
- Self-starter who works effectively with minimal supervision
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication, in person and by phone
- Structured troubleshooting: identify issues, brainstorm options, analyze, and implement the best fix
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Time management: prioritize, set goals, and build systems to deliver
- Language: read and write simple correspondence; present in small groups and 1:1 settings
- Math: probability, statistics, plane/solid geometry, trigonometry; apply fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions
- Reasoning: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions; interpret complex technical instructions (math/diagram) and manage abstract and concrete variables
