What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Customs Brokerage position at deugro-group?
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the maintaining customs permit and will be required to be the corporate license holder
- Responsible for the identification and implementation of cargo software requirements
- Manage customs brokerage activities; work with customs to clear shipments of goods for distribution
- Create and manage accurate documentation: customs entry documentation, client shipment details, exception reports and other necessary documentation
- Assigns work to achieve balanced and efficient completion of brokerage activities in accordance with deugro policies, and procedures for brokerage team members
- Resolve stalled shipments and non-compliant requests; communicate closely with both internal and external customers regarding shipment status
- Offer guidance on import compliance processes to any deugro offices or departments seeking assistance
- Manage shipment and customer information in in- house cargo software
Perform regular process evaluations for areas of improvement including but not limited to:
- Entry KPIs, task and dashboard use
- Internal information flow (AMS, ISF, Shipment awards)
- Accounting processes / Job management
- Exception Handling
- Updates and verifies tariffs and rates
- Develop deugro into a C-TPAT Brokerage firm
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment on a regular basis to direct documentation agents to achieve service center goals
- Responsible for audit of entry writer activities ensuring highest quality and accuracy of entry processing
- Responsible for customer satisfaction and customer retention by implementing effective service capabilities
- Communicate with top 10-15 brokerage clients at minimum quarterly to ensure continued client satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement or expansion of services.
- Responsible for adherence to U.S. customs, and all other government agencies
- Responsible for general compliance with all trading countries/partners (Rules & Documentation)
Head of Customs Brokerage will delegate and train staff on the below focal points:
- Review of CSMS, ICP, BIS and FTR notices to ensure timely implementation of new compliance requirements and notification to potentially impacted deugro offices and customers
- Duty impact evaluations for project planning on behalf of various EPCs
- HTS, Valuation and Compliance Process Consulting
- Duty and tax quotes for both internal and external clients
- Evaluates brokerage staff performance on a regular basis
- Holds regular meetings with both brokerage supervisor/manager and entry staff to discuss problems, issues, ideas for improvement
- Hold regular meetings with other deugro USA department heads and sales staff to review business leads and opportunities for growth
- Support all RFI and RFQ bids in all requirements for customs brokerage and services. Both Commercial and Information response
- Responsible for continuous improvement of service processes to drive gains in quality and productivity
- Comply with all safe work practices and procedures set in place by company
- Adhere and enforce company QHSES Policy and Procedures
- Work with due care and consideration to safeguard own health and safety and the health and safety of others
