Our Millwork Project Manager plays a key role in carrying that standard through each phase of a project—ensuring that our custom millwork is thoughtfully executed, well-coordinated, and delivered with the level of service our clients expect. This position requires a balance of technical knowledge, clear communication, and hands-on problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee custom millwork projects from initial kickoff through final installation, ensuring quality, accuracy, and smooth workflow at every step.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, designers, architects, and contractors, representing Detroit Woodworking with professionalism and a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, materials, and project details to confirm scope and fabrication requirements.
  • Build and manage project schedules, budgets, and documentation while proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Work closely with our shop teams—including engineering, fabrication, and finishing—to ensure projects are built to Detroit Woodworking’s standards of craftsmanship and durability.
  • Coordinate site measurements, field verifications, and installation planning.
  • Manage purchasing, material tracking, and vendor coordination.
  • Conduct regular site visits to maintain project alignment, resolve challenges, and support field teams.
  • Oversee project closeout activities including punch lists, documentation, and client walkthroughs.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of project management experience in millwork, cabinetry, construction, architecture, or a related trade.
  • Strong understanding of custom millwork construction, materials, finishes, and installation methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and documentation systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and comfort traveling to project sites as needed.
