General Summary:
The DPM Utility Worker I performs a variety of non-technical tasks to support system maintenance. This includes ensuring the safety, availability, reliability, cleanliness, and appearance of DPM vehicles, structures, station areas, guideways, MCF, shop, and administrative areas through custodial and maintenance duties.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Cleans both the interior and exterior of DPM vehicles, as well as maintenance areas when needed.
- Transports materials between vendors, stores, and maintenance staff.
- Clears debris from guideways, storm sewers, drains, gutters, and downspouts; removes snow and ice from walkways.
- Performs custodial duties inside and outside buildings as necessary.
- Carries out general labor tasks as required.
- Operates a motor vehicle (4-wheel drive/standard transmission) with a valid driver's license.
- Participate in technical, safety, and driver training as required.
- Conducts on-the-spot assessments of any unusual vehicle or guideway conditions.
- Assists Mechanical and Electronic Technicians with specific systems as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum:
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General labor experience in building maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of snow removal and de-icing techniques.
- General understanding of mixing various chemical solutions for different purposes.
- Ability to apply safety procedures when using gasoline-powered vacuum cleaners.
- Proficient in using a wide range of equipment and tools, including trucks, cars, forklifts, vacuum cleaners, buffing equipment, vehicle workstations, hydraulic lifts, mops, brushes, paint brushes, and shovels.
