About Rosa Campus Cafe: Our Wayne State location lives inside the WSU Campus Bookstore in Midtown Detroit, serving students, faculty, and the surrounding community. It's a fast, friendly, daytime cafe—open Monday through Friday—where great coffee and warm hospitality keep the campus running.
Position Overview: We're hiring an experienced barista who can step behind the bar and hit the ground running. You'll craft exceptional espresso and specialty drinks, create warm interactions with every guest, and keep the cafe clean, stocked, and welcoming. This role is for someone who takes pride in their craft, moves with confidence during a rush, and shows up ready to rep Rosa's values every day.
What You'll Do:
- Provide genuine, high-quality customer service that reflects Rosa's mission of community and hospitality
- Prepare and serve espresso, coffee, tea, and specialty beverages to Rosa's quality and presentation standards
- Operate the POS and handle cash and card transactions accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar and front-of-house area throughout the shift
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures
- Support opening, mid-shift, and closing duties, including cleaning, stocking, and prep
- Restock and merchandise self-serve market items, keeping the space guest-ready
- Assist with inventory counts and receiving deliveries

Qualifications:
- Prior barista experience required (espresso, milk steaming, drink builds)
- Able to multitask and stay calm in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and a team-player attitude
- Reliable and punctual, with dependable transportation to Midtown Detroit
- Food handler's / ServSafe certification a plus (or willing to obtain)
Schedule:
- Part-time, weekday daytime shifts
- Summer hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
- Fall hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Closed weekends
