Job Description
We are seeking a dependable Construction General Laborer with previous construction experience. The ideal candidate is hardworking, safety-conscious, punctual, and comfortable performing a variety of construction, renovation, and property-improvement tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with demolition, cleanup, and job-site preparation
- Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials
- Perform basic carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and repair work
- Safely operate hand and power tools
- Assist supervisors and skilled tradespeople
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe
- Follow project instructions and meet daily work expectations
- Complete other general construction duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous construction or general labor experience required
- Reliable transportation to Detroit-area job sites
- Ability to follow directions and work well with a team
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical work throughout the day
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and job-site safety
- Experience with carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, roofing, or demolition is a plus
- Valid driver’s license is preferred
Compensation and 30-Day Probationary Period
Pay ranges from $15 to $35 per hour, depending on verified experience and proven ability.
All new employees begin with a 30-day probationary period at an agreed starting rate. At the end of the probationary period, Detroit Renewal Capital Construction will review the employee’s:
- Attendance and punctuality
- Work quality and productivity
- Construction knowledge and skill level
- Ability to follow instructions
- Safety practices and professionalism
The employee’s full ongoing pay rate will be determined after this review. All compensation terms will be provided before employment begins, and all hours worked will be paid at the agreed rate.
