Position Summary
DPSCD is seeking to hire a Curriculum Leader in Fine and Performing Arts. This position will direct and maintain districtwide focus for the continued development of fine and performing arts programming, specifically in music and theatre. The Curriculum Leader will help K-12 schools by working cross departmentally to ensure programming is supported, staffed, teachers are developed and district programs are maintained.
Minimum Qualifications
Under the direction of the Deputy Executive Director of Fine and Performing Arts, in conjunction with the Curriculum and Instruction Office, the Curriculum Leader in Fine and Performing Arts will have the following key responsibilities:
Plan, develop, and provide all applicable fine and performing arts professional developments for Arts teachers.
Internal Applicants
If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
External Applicants
In alignment with Michigan law, if you are hired to fill a position, you will be required to submit to a Detroit Public Schools Community District criminal background check. Information regarding required background checks will be shared at the point of hiring.

- Minimum 3 years of related education experience, including classroom experience in one of the fine and performing arts areas.
- Experience in urban school settings
- Master¿s degree preferred
- Valid teacher certificate

- Improve student achievement, imagination and creative expression in the fine and performing arts across all schools and student groups.
Plan, develop, and provide all applicable fine and performing arts professional developments for Arts teachers.
- Participate in district collaborative committees, as requested, to ensure artistic expression in student programs and services.
- Engage and coordinate districtwide programming.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure student access to appropriate Arts opportunities.
- Engage in and execute aspects of fiscal stewardship in the Arts.

- Assist teachers, central office and school campus administrators by providing goods and services related to the Arts programming.
- Provide leadership to all school campuses to promote continued improvement in the Arts.
- Keep abreast of best practices and developing trends in the Arts and disseminate information to appropriate personnel.
- Support campus administration with ongoing recruiting and retention strategies to support our full-staffing objective.
- Coordinate and manage inventory and workflows for curricular implementation.
