What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Safety Instructor position at Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center?
Job Summary: Individuals will report directly to the Fitness and Aquatic Director.
Duties:
- Instructing youth and/or adults about water safety.
- Creating daily and/or weekly lesson plans.
- Attending staff meetings and trainings.
- Keeping all certification current.
- Addressing parent and/or guardian’s concerns, issues and other feedback in a positive, friendly manner.
- Notify Fitness and Aquatic Director of any concerns, complaints, issues and/or feedback.
- Issue participant surveys when received from the Fitness and Aquatic Director.
- Providing leadership and direction to Water Safety Assistants.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds or more.
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the Fitness and Aquatic Director.
Compensation:
Hourly rate of pay dependent on certifications and experience. Increases in rate of pay based on an employee evaluation conducted by the Fitness and Aquatic Director.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold current certification with the American Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor. Lifeguard Training and CPR preferred.
