Position Summary

The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for performing hands-on mechanical work including assembly, fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting of components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. Working from schematics, diagrams, written instructions, and verbal guidance, this role supports engineers and production teams in building, calibrating, modifying, and validating mechanical systems. The technician will also assist in maintaining production quality, improving processes, and supporting research or prototype development when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical assembly, fabrication, modification, and rework of parts, components, and subassemblies.
  • Interpret and work from engineering schematics, technical diagrams, layouts, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain test and diagnostic equipment used during assembly and verification.
  • Assist engineers with calibration, test setup, troubleshooting, and quality checks.
  • Conduct inspections and quality testing to ensure components meet specifications and standards.
  • Collect design or test data and support research or process-improvement activities.
  • Follow established manufacturing procedures and contribute to developing improved methods where necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Required Skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic mechanical tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and basic technical documents.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior mechanical assembly experience.
  • Experience working on military vehicles or similar complex mechanical systems.

Required Experience

  • Prior hands-on mechanical experience.
  • Experience working from schematics, diagrams, engineering instructions, or defined plans.
  • Experience performing assembly, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and quality verification.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior assembly experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience with military or heavy-duty vehicle systems.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $23.91 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
