CNC Machine Operator
Location: Aiken, South Carolina
Shift: 2nd Shift (10 hours) or Weekend Shift (12 hours)
Position Summary
Seeking experienced CNC Machine Operators to perform machining, fabrication, and processing of metal parts while meeting departmental and plant goals related to cost, quality, delivery, and safety. The role involves operating CNC-controlled equipment, setting up machines, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC-controlled equipment in a metal cutting/manufacturing environment
- Set machine controls, load tools and fixtures, and run programs
- Load and unload parts from pallets or containers onto machines and fixtures
- Use hand tools, ratchets, air tools, and other devices to secure parts
- Machine parts according to blueprint specifications
- Inspect parts using gauges and precision measuring tools to ensure quality standards
- Troubleshoot machining issues and take corrective action as needed
- Move materials using hoists, pallet jacks, forklifts, electric motorized trucks, and manual pallet lifts
- Complete work orders, labor tracking, time reporting, and quality documentation
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Follow safety policies and procedures
- Train team members as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC-controlled equipment in a metal cutting or metalworking manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and apply shop mathematics
- Experience using gauges and precision measuring tools
- Ability to understand and adjust machine controls, fixtures, and tooling requirements
- Knowledge of safety procedures and machine safety features
- Experience operating hoist, pallet jack, or forklift (forklift certification required)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to reach up to 50 inches
- Lift up to 30 pounds
- Apply up to 30 pounds of torque using ratchets
- Step up 14 inches onto forklift equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-year Machine Tool Technology Degree
- 4 years of experience setting up and operating CNC Mills, Lathes, or Presses
- 2 years of experience with 3-axis CNC machines (Mazak, Haas, Makino, Onsrud)
- 2 years of experience with 5-axis CNC machines (Parpas, Cincinnati, Mitsubishi, Yami Seiki)
- 2 years of experience operating water jet or laser cutting CNC machines
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- 2-year Machine Tool Technology Degree (Preferred)
Pay: $23.18 - $25.43 per hour
