The Creative Content Specialist will focus on creating video, photography and other digital content, serving as an integral part of the DCDS Communications team. The successful candidate is a storyteller who thrives using multimedia platforms to showcase the exemplary education that DCDS provides. Must have excellent video and audio production, post-production and technology expertise (shooting, editing, uploading, etc.) as well as strong editorial and organizational skills to generate stories and collaborate in the development of content calendar. The ideal candidate will consistently seek new and creative ways to inform, educate and engage. This position serves as the primary video content creator, but will also collaborate on department projects, take photos/post to social media, and produce creative materials for website, digital and print publications. Candidate must be self-motivated but also demonstrate ability to work well with others. Passion for excellence is education is a must.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Produce, edit and distribute dynamic and engaging video and audio content.
- Video/Photography to cover events, classroom instruction & other school highlights.
- Function as integral part of communications team to collaborate on and determine content calendar, video production, resources and assignments.
- Post content to DCDS website, social media, YouTube, Vimeo and other outlets.
- Work with faculty, staff and students to generate ideas and produce content.
- Lend technical knowledge and expertise to resolve challenges in all areas of production.
- Work with the Creative Director and communications team to maintain DCDS brand consistency.
- Help to support efforts to reach Admissions, Alumni and Advancement Office goals with creative and timely creative content.
- Collaborate to produce creative content for DCDS print and digital publications, viewbooks, brochures, etc.
- Recruit, train and mentor student creators as department matures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in communications or video-related field or commensurate experience.
- Experience working independently to generate compelling short-form video content with quick turnaround.
- Candidates are required to submit link to video portfolio or website when applying. Applications without a link to portfolio will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in motion graphics and animation or the desire/ability to learn.
- Education industry experience or familiarity a plus
- Familiarity with Finalsite or other content management systems.
- Podcasting or audio production experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Passion for great storytelling and creativity.
- Excellent video/audio production and post-production skills.
- Demonstrated ability to edit with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro or other video editing software.
- Experience in working with a range of cameras, lighting, and sound equipment.
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong creative, strategic and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and an ability to balance competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of new video trends and equipment to recommend system upgrades.
- Willingness to learn new skills to utilize existing and emerging communications vehicles.
- Ability to work collectively as part of an energetic, mission-driven team.
- Occasional night and weekend availability to attend events.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to independently carry video equipment, lighting, etc. and use them daily in production of content.
- Valid driver's license to travel short distances between campuses.
