About the Role
Detroit Business Institute – Downriver is launching three new diploma programs—Medical Assistant, Medical Office, and Medical Office Specialist—and we’re hiring a full-time Program Director to lead them. This is a rare opportunity to build and launch programs in a new facility and help shape the future of allied health training in the Detroit metro area.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement program curricula aligned with national certification standards (CCMA, CMAA, CBCS)
- Serve as lead faculty and teach core didactic courses in year one
- Recruit, onboard, and supervise adjunct instructors
- Ensure ongoing regulatory compliance with ACCSC and state agencies
- Oversee scheduling, assessments, and student success tracking
- Coordinate externships and employer partnerships
- Assist in setup of classrooms, labs, EHR/billing systems, and instructional materials
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health, Health Sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 3 years administrative experience in a postsecondary or career education setting
- 2 years teaching experience in medical assisting or related disciplines
- Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Practice Fusion), billing/coding platforms, and LMS tools
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
Preferred
- Active certifications: CCMA, CMAA, CBCS
- Prior experience launching or directing new academic programs
- Knowledge of hybrid or tech-enhanced instructional delivery
- Familiarity with ACCSC accreditation and programmatic compliance
