What are the responsibilities and job description for the REGISTERED NURSE position at Destiny Springs Healthcare?
Registered Nurse in a Behavioral Health Hospital. Schedule: 7:00am - 7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am (Fulltime-12-hour shifts)
Essential Functions:
- Assesses patient physical, psychological, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.
- Administers medications and accurately reports in patient’s medical charts/records.
- Measures and records patients’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Inspects, documents, and secures patient’s personal belongings. Ensures that prohibited items, including contraband, are removed and secured.
- Formulates a plan of care utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient need.
- Recognizes patients that are exhibiting aggressive behavior, acting as a danger to themselves or others, or are in crisis constituting a medical emergency. Provides intervention including redirection of patients, ordering and participating in seclusion and physical restraint, and/or obtaining an order from a provider to administer chemical restraint.
- Conducts EOC rounds and reports all safety risks, work orders, and inventory/supplies.
- Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements.
- Evaluates the patient's response to care and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members.
- Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient’s response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Facilitates daily groups according to “Mindability-Roadmap to Peace of Mind” curriculum.
- Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
- Perform other functions as assigned by a CNO, ADON, or administration.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department, including clinical oversight of Behavioral Health Technician.
Requirements/Education:
- Arizona State issued Registered Nurse required. RN with multi-state issued license and/or Nurse Licensure Compact (NCL) must apply for an Arizona issued license within sixty days of employment.
- Two years of behavioral health experience preferred
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card required
- BLS/CPR and CPI Certification required
