- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive care strategies
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring accurate positioning and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and EMR systems like Open Dental
- Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques, sterilization, and proper disposal of contaminated materials
- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to dental terminology standards
- Collaborate with dentists and other team members to provide comprehensive patient care in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic environment
- Local Anesthesia Permit highly suggested
- Graduates from US based Dental Hygiene programs will be given preference
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical coding procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Open Dental is highly preferred
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children and their unique needs
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure handling of medical records
- Ability to perform medical imaging procedures safely while maintaining patient comfort and safety
