About the Restaurants & Hotel 

Desolation Hotel Hope Valley is proud to be under new management and expanding our team! We are seeking friendly, reliable Bartenders and Front of House Professionals to help deliver exceptional, 5-Star guest experiences in one of the most stunning alpine destinations in California.  

Desolation Hotel Hope Valley is a 27-cabin resort property with a small campground, luxury yurts, and two on-site restaurants, all nestled in the mountains and welcoming both overnight guests and day visitors. 

Sorensen’s Cafe offers a casual, approachable menu featuring burgers, pot pies, soups, salads, and desserts in a laid-back mountain atmosphere. Our full bar is located outside, under an expansive tent. The bar program features a small, curated wine list, draft beer, and classic cocktails with thoughtful riffs. Bartenders create cocktail specials and are encouraged to use on-hand ingredients to craft creative and fun ingredients for the specials. Bartenders may work solo shifts or with one other bartender. One to two Servers work the floor. This is a great spot for bartenders who enjoy small teams, working outside in the fresh mountain air and creating fun cocktails.

Hope Valley Bar & Grill is a counter service style restaurant, where guests order at the register. Food is a classic bar menu with burgers, sandwiches, wraps, french fries and house made baked goods such as pies, cookies & scones. The space also features a full bar, where guests are served by the bartender and order food through them. Our bar program is simple, with 4 rotating draft beers, an approachable wine menu and a quality spirit selection. This restaurant is a popular spot for locals and regulars, as well as our campground & resort guests. Bartenders typically work solo shifts. This is a great spot for bartenders who enjoy taking ownership of a small, focused program and building return clientelle.

Position Overview 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, multitasking, and working with a small, dedicated team. Our Bartenders provide excellent guest service while maintaining efficiency, professionalism, and a welcoming atmosphere. 

Schedule & Pay 

• Restaurant hours: Noon – 8:00 PM  (Sorensen's Cafe) ; 11am - 7pm (Hope Valley B&G)
• Current openings: Full Time / 4 days a week
• Weekend and holiday availability is required 
• Pay: $17.90 - $20/hr  tips  **wage based on experience & skillset

Job Duties & Responsibilities 

• Provide attentive, friendly service to guests 
• Take food and beverage orders and deliver items promptly 
• Prepare and serve wine, draft beer, and classic cocktails 
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining room and bar areas 
• Handle cash and POS transactions accurately 
• Communicate effectively with kitchen and management staff 
• Follow all alcohol service, safety, and sanitation guidelines 
• Perform other standard bartender duties as assigned 

Requirements 

• Must be 21 years of age or older 
• 3 years serving and/or bartending experience preferred 
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs 
• Comfortable with bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing during work activities 
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
