About the Role: 

As a BIM Specialist at DeSimone Consulting Engineering, you will support the development of BIM models at LOD300 to produce construction documentation and deliver high‑quality technical services across mid‑ to high‑rise building projects. Working closely with engineering and design teams, you will create and manage BIM models, interpret multidisciplinary drawings, and contribute to coordinated design workflows from early schematic stages through construction documentation. This role provides hands‑on experience with Revit, Dynamo, 3D/4D modeling, and multidisciplinary coordination while building a solid foundation for continued professional growth. 

*This role can be based in either New York City, or New Haven, CT*

What You'll Do: 

  • Create and manage BIM projects from Schematic Design through Construction Documentation. 
  • Produce LOD300 BIM models for concrete, CMU, steel, and timber structures. 
  • Generate plans, elevations, sections, and details using Autodesk Revit. 
  • Utilize Dynamo at a basic level to extract data and generate model updates. 
  • Develop knowledge and proficiency with the Revit platform and Revit Family Creation (including nested families and shared parameters). 
  • Apply 3D and 4D modeling for time/phasing within Revit environments. 
  • Assist in preparing renderings, videos, and presentation materials for proposals and marketing. 
  • Interpret Architectural, MEP, and Structural drawings to support design coordination. 
  • Review design information with engineering staff to clarify incomplete details. 
  • Support the resolution of design concepts with the design team. 
  • Coordinate BIM models across multiple trades to resolve issues and produce construction documents. 
  • Work with existing building drawings to create sequential construction models at LOD 200–300 using phasing tools. 
  • Assist in troubleshooting BIM add‑ons and maintaining QA/QC standards for BIM deliverables. 
  • Participate in client visits or site meetings as needed. 
  • Maintain multiple models concurrently while ensuring precision, accuracy, and attention to detail. 
  • Apply critical thinking to break down issues, evaluate solutions, and support sound decision‑making. 

What We're Looking For:

  • High School Diploma required. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of BIM experience. 
  • At least 1 year of experience using Revit for 3D and 4D (time/phasing) modeling. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with Dynamo visual programming. 
  • Ability to maintain and develop computer literacy, including specialist software and Microsoft Office/Teams. 
  • Up‑to‑date technical knowledge in BIM and related software platforms. 

Minimum (Required) Skills: 

  • Ability to interpret Architectural, MEP, and Structural drawings. 
  • Proficiency in Revit for modeling and documentation. 
  • Basic capability in Dynamo for data extraction and model automation. 
  • Understanding of Revit family creation, including nested families and shared parameters. 
  • Strong attention to accuracy, detail, and documentation. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple models and collaborate across disciplines. 
  • Ability to support QA/QC processes for BIM projects. 
  • Willingness to attend site visits or client meetings when appropriate. 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Experience maintaining 6–10 BIM models concurrently. 
  • Experience collaborating with Architecture, MEP, Landscape, and other trades. 
  • Experience producing renders or visual presentation materials. 
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting BIM add‑ons and plugins. 
  • Exposure to construction sequencing and existing‑building modeling workflows. 
  • Developing capability in meeting facilitation, presentation skills, and coordination discussions. 
  • Growing understanding of project scope, budgets, and business development concepts. 

 

At DeSimone, we believe in transparency when it comes to salary and hourly rates for our job postings. Our pay range represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that we think, in good faith, we might be willing to pay, for the posted job in the specified location(s).    

This position is classified as salaried, exempt. The hiring salary range for this role is anticipated to be $65,000-$70,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.   

For this particular position, we expect to hire near the middle of the range. We understand that there may be rare and exceptional circumstances where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position. In these cases, we may consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
