Position Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Intern to join our elevator consulting group, specializing in the technical aspects of elevator project management, modernization, and maintenance. Our team of elevator consultants work creatively to deliver thoughtful solutions for building owners, architects and building managers. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and be exposed to meaningful projects within the field as well as exposure to our other engineering teammates at DeSimone who we share an office with.
Qualifications (Minimum and Desired):
- High School Diploma
- Currently attending a trade school OR currently pursing a bachelor's degree
- Understanding of physics, and mechanics
- Strong interest in architecture, engineering, or building science.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Attention to detail and an eagerness to learn.
- Curiosity about building systems and an enthusiasm for solving complex challenges.
- proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel and Bluebeam (or any PDF editor)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and/ or Revit software is not required but is a bonus.
- Detail oriented with strong people and team skills
- Sense of urgency and initiative essential for success
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Intern, you will be exposed to a range of activities designed to deepen your knowledge and experience in the elevator modernization, maintenance and construction industry. Your responsibilities will include:
- Participate in site visits to modernization and maintenance projects, observing and learning about the complexities of the elevator industry.
- Assist in the development and refinement of the group's internal standards, processes, and tools that guide our work.
- Gain exposure to a variety of building and security systems, modernization and construction techniques, cutting edge elevator technology, and real-world implementation.
- Participate in meetings and calls with manufacturers to discuss materials, technologies, and systems used in the elevator industry.
- Participate in meetings and calls with customers to understand our role in the industry and the value we add as elevator consultants.
- Work closely with team members, contributing to the growth of the group through your initiative, strong communication, and collaborative skills.
Work environment: Office setting - this position is in the office 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) 9am-6pm.
Office Location: This position can be in San Francisco, Chicago or NYC
