Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Project Understanding and Preparation:
- Understand the clients' needs to help develop a detailed estimate
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant data
- Review and analyze project specifications, construction plans, geotechnical reports, and related documentation to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Perform detailed material and earthwork takeoffs using industry-standard software tools, including Agtek, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Excel
- Agtek - Generate precise earthwork calculations, including cut and fill volumes
- Bluebeam - Visually assess project scope and quantify measurable items such as lengths, areas, and counts
- Excel - Complies detailed material quantities, volumes, and tonnage, providing organized data that estimators use for cost development during the bid preparation process
- Attend pre-bid meetings and assist in the preparation of bids and proposals
- Participate in post-project evaluations to improve future estimating practices
- Deliver contracts, bids, and related documents
- Handle miscellaneous tasks such as picking up plans, plan copying, etc
- Assist estimators on various projects and additional duties as directed
- Remain current on industry trends, materials, and construction techniques
- Build meaningful relationships with your peers through collaboration on projects, shared responsibilities, and team-building activities
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- Estimating Engineering experience preferred but not required
- Proficient in MS Office, Word and Excel.
- Familiar with Agtek, AutoCad and Blue Beam. Ability to learn new programs quickly
- Undergraduate level math skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate with internal and external personnel of all levels
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively
- Analytical and creative mindset
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and consistently thorough in all tasks
- Self-motivated and driven, with a strong willingness to learn and grow
- Able to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced environment
- Required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
