Position Overview
The Project Manager plays a vital role in delivering this large-scale design/build effort—integrating creative vision with execution. Responsible for managing a $120 M project, this role spans from concept through construction, ensuring alignment with client goals, budgets, and timelines. Project Managers collaborating with architects, designers, builders, and stakeholders.
Project Description
Set on 1,200 acres, the San Jacinto Battlefield State Historic Site is home to a 567-foot monument, historic battlefield, marsh trails, and multiple early 20th-century structures—all requiring restoration or preservation. New construction will include a museum and a collections storage facility. D&P, serving as the prime contractor, is responsible for the full project scope: architecture, exhibit design, archaeology, historic interpretation, habitat restoration, historic structure restoration, and new construction. A personal interest in Texas history would make this a particularly rewarding opportunity.
Expertise
- 10-15 years of robust blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills in leading complex, design/build projects. A degree in construction management, architecture, or a related field, combined with substantial experience in managing design/build projects.
- A deep understanding of construction processes, project management software proficiency, and familiarity with building codes and safety regulations.
- Leadership: Experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, and effectively coordinating their efforts.
- Problem-solving aptitude, keen attention to detail, and financial acumen are crucial for managing budgets and schedules while ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent credentials will be advantageous, highlighting a commitment to professional excellence and industry best practices.
- Client and Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to work closely with clients, understand their needs, and manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred. This educational background provides a strong foundation in both design principles and construction practices. Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or a similar credential can be highly beneficial and often preferred.
