Hourly Rate: $18.00
Term/hours: 9-12 months, up to 20 hours a week. The work hours will be flexible to allow the Intern to attend classes, as needed. Occasional weekend and evening work to attend and support events as required. The intern will work in person at our office located at 1200 S. Gene Autry Trail, Palm Springs, CA 92264.
Job Definition: Under supervision, the Public Affairs & Social Media Intern will perform a variety of duties, as assigned, with a strong focus on social media, including graphic design, marketing, public relations and outreach.

Job duties/responsibilities: The Public Affairs & Social Media Intern will conduct duties such as, but not limited to:
- Plan, develop and post content to DWA’s various social media platforms, including graphics, videos and reels
- Create compelling visuals such as graphics, videos and outreach collateral, including photography of projects or events, as needed.
- Develop and write engaging content for social media, advertising, marketing and website
- Update website pages and events calendar
- Event coordination and assistance
- Support DWA photo library
- Track promotional inventory
- Schooling - High school diploma or G.E.D. Must be currently enrolled in college with a minimum of two classes or 8 units of classes each semester while working as an intern and have completed 16 units of related classes.
- Social media savvy – Familiarity with various social media platforms and their functionalities (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Nextdoor.)
- Creative digital media: Any combination of training, experience or education in graphic design, video and photography.
- Writing: Ability to write proficiently for a variety of audiences, from social media to advertising campaigns.
- Program knowledge: Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook; Google docs and sheets; Canva; website platforms
