What are the responsibilities and job description for the Limited X-Ray Technician position at Desert Urgent Care?
The limited X-Ray Technician role performs diagnostic x-rays within their licensure for patients of all ages. Assumes responsibility for accuracy under the direction of the Physician. Performs diagnostic procedures within licensure and produces high quality images using correct anatomical markers. Gathers pertinent previous studies, films, and patient documentation to submit to Radiologist for interpretation. Uses multiple EMR systems such as Allscripts, and GE-PACS for scheduling, charge entry, patient history, and verifying images.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs timely radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician
- Performs necessary quality control procedures to ensure quality exams are performed
- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and follows established clinical and regulatory procedures in regards to patient safety and care; including proper radiation protection and shielding techniques.
- Ensures that equipment is in proper working order and reports any malfunctions to the Area Manager or provider on duty.
- Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient visit.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining and improving diagnostic imaging knowledge and skills with the support and assistance of outside educational resources
- Responsible for maintaining current licensure and certification for the facility radiology equipment and licensure
- Select length and intensity of radiation exposure on individual patient basis or to specification of examination
- Use of CR and DR systems
- Examine images for properties such as density, contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion
- Send and store images
- Prepare patients for examination, taking vital signs and history, and provides treatment as applicable
- Performs blood draws and administers medication injections, vaccines and BAT and urine drugs screen collections.
- Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, setup, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent education based on certification type; skills in Medical Assisting
- Valid ARRT certification and/or a State X-Ray license is require
