Position Title: Aftercare Teacher
Employment Type: Part-Time (12-20 hrs/wk)
Reports To: Program Director / Head of School
Work Location: In Person – Santa Fe, NM
Position Summary
The Aftercare Teacher is responsible for supervising and caring for students enrolled in the Aftercare Program and ensuring that children remain safe, supported, and engaged during extended-day hours. This role plans and implements age-appropriate activities for children ages two through twelve that provide a balance of structured enrichment and supervised free play.
The Aftercare Teacher maintains a safe and orderly environment, follows established supervision and behavior guidance procedures, and communicates with school administration as needed regarding student wellbeing and program operations.

Key Responsibilities
Student Supervision & Safety
- Provide active supervision of students during aftercare hours
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and orderly environment
- Follow established supervision, safety, and behavior guidance procedures
Activity Planning & Engagement
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support creativity, collaboration, and independent play
- Provide a balance of structured enrichment and supervised free play
- Adapt activities to meet the needs of mixed-age groups
Communication & Program Support
- Communicate with school administration regarding student wellbeing or behavioral concerns
- Maintain accurate attendance records during aftercare hours
- Support smooth transitions from the school day into aftercare programming
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
- Ability to supervise mixed-age groups effectively
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment
Preferred Qualifications
- associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Montessori training or familiarity with Montessori philosophy
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Experience leading enrichment activities or youth programs
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: $21/hr
