Per Diem Mobile IV Nurse (RN), Big Bend and Lajitas
Desert Elixirs, Terlingua, TX | W-2 employee, per diem | $42 to $48/hr
Out here, a hot day on the golf course or the trail can wreck a trip. We get people back on their feet, and we're looking for a licensed nurse to help us do it.
The terms, up front
- W-2 employee, per diem. Not 1099. Payroll taxes handled and workers' comp in place.
- $42 to $48 an hour, based on experience.
- If guests cancel, you're paid a 2-hour minimum.
- Mileage paid at the current IRS rate for work travel: Terlingua to Lajitas, or to a guest's lodging. Travel to get to Terlingua is not included.
- Live more than 60 miles from Terlingua? Your work is scheduled as a 2-day block, and we book and pay for your room for the night in between.
- Supplies, protocols, and liability coverage are provided.
What you'll do
- Place IVs and give hydration, vitamin infusions, and IM injections to resort guests. Some visits may be at private lodging around Terlingua, like Airbnbs and small group events.
- Work from written protocols and provider orders. Our APRN completes every Good Faith Exam first, by video, and is reachable by phone for every session.
- Chart in real time, keep supplies sterile, and follow our emergency protocol.
What a shift looks like
Shifts are 8 hours, and some evenings may be required. Plan on about an hour per guest. Lajitas is about 30 minutes from Terlingua. We build 2-day blocks around guest bookings and confirm each one about a week ahead. Send us the weekends you're open, and we'll reach out when a block fills. Your first shift is a paid orientation before you work solo.
Coming from out of town, like Alpine or farther? You work two days in a row and stay the night in between, so you're not driving 80 miles home after a long day. Nurses who live nearby can pick up single shifts.
What we need
- Active Texas RN license, or a Compact license with Texas privilege.
- Active BLS certification.
- 1 to 2 years of clinical experience with frequent peripheral IV starts (ER, ICU, PACU, infusion, or similar), including difficult access.
- Reliable transportation.
