What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Assembler position at Desert Aire?
Production Associate: Dehumidification Systems
This role is a great starting point for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on work. You will help build and test custom humidity control units used in everything from indoor farms and ice rinks to industrial water plants. Because our systems are often custom-made, you’ll need to be a practical problem solver who can handle tasks and work well either independently or with a group of 2-5 coworkers. We are looking for coachable employees who are interested in Brazing, large line assembly or electrical sub-assembly work. The right fit would be cross-trained in multiple departments.
What You’ll Do
- Hands-on Assembly: Use your mechanical skills and basic power tools to put together units, including installing fans, coils, and basic hardware.
- Follow Custom Plans: Interpret and follow instructions provided in written, oral, or by diagram. You’ll be working with blueprints and assembly guides that change based on the customer’s needs.
- Think on Your Feet: Solve practical problems as they come up on the line. You’ll need to deal with different variables in situations where the work isn't always identical from one day to the next.
- Quality Checks: Help inspect parts and finished units to make sure they meet our standards for moisture control and energy efficiency.
- Moving Materials: Safely operate basic equipment and hand trucks to move components around the shop floor.
- Keep It Organized: Assist with crating and labeling units for shipment to ensure they arrive safely at professional jobsites.
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanically Inclined: You’re comfortable with tools and have a natural knack for how things fit together (assembling technique).
- Adaptable: You can handle a variety of "concrete variables"—meaning you’re okay when we need to float between projects due to shipment urgency.
- Instruction Follower: Whether someone tells you what to do, gives you a drawing, or hands you a written list, you can get it done accurately and independently.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for your shift and lift between 10-50 lbs with assistance.
- Safety First: A commitment to following all shop safety rules and wearing required gear (PPE).
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: No specific HVAC experience required, but a background in construction, auto repair, or carpentry is a huge plus.
- Skills: Basic math and the ability to read a tape measure are essential.
From keeping pro hockey ice frozen to helping indoor farms thrive, your hands will build the systems that control the world’s most critical environments. If you’re a natural fixer looking for a career that’s anything but 'cookie-cutter,' apply now and let’s get to work!
