Position Overview
We are seeking an Accounts Payable Manager for a full-time on-site position located in Hyattsville, MD. The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee daily accounts payable operations, including auditing and processing invoices, managing accruals, preparing journal entries, and maintaining accurate records. This role involves ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting regulations, managing vendor relations, and improving operational efficiencies within accounts payable workflows. Additionally, the Accounts Payable Manager will assist in producing various financial reports and supporting audits as needed.
We're looking for a collaborative individual who takes ownership, brings structure to complexity, and wants to play a real role in modernizing how our firm operates across both domestic and international projects. This role will work closely and report to our Comptroller/CFO.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage Accounts Payable for U.S. and overseas operations, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements for our subcontractors, vendors, and other partners.
- Collaborate with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights and accurate cost data.
- Collaborate closely with the Comptroller to understand and refine all accounting workflows.
- Assist in managing international banking operations, including establishing and maintaining overseas bank accounts and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Support job costing and project-level financial reporting for multiple concurrent contracts.
- Ensure compliance with federal contracting standards, GAAP, and international accounting requirements.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closings, including reconciliations and reporting.
- Proactively identify opportunities to modernize systems, improve efficiency, and streamline data flows.
Qualifications
- 5 years of accounting experience- construction or general contracting background strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Sage (Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate or Sage 100 Contractor).
- Solid grasp of job costing, project accounting, and multi-entity financial structures.
- Experience with international banking and foreign account management is a real plus.
- A history of improving processes, not just following them.
- Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and reliable under deadline pressure.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related major. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
