Interior Designer | Residential + Commercial

Desa Design Studio | Naperville, IL | Full-Time

2 years of professional interior design experience required

Desa Design Studio is growing, and we're looking for a talented Interior Designer to join our Naperville-based team.

Our work spans residential and boutique commercial interiors, with each project designed around the client, the architecture and the way the space needs to function. For our designers, that means exposure to different aesthetics, project types and phases of the design process rather than being limited to one narrow role.

You'll work directly with our Principal Designer and design team across projects from initial concept through implementation.

Depending on your experience, you'll contribute to:

• Space planning and schematic design

• SketchUp modeling and design development

• Mood boards and client presentations

• Architectural finish and fixture selections

• Floor plans, elevations and design documentation

• Custom cabinetry and millwork development

• Furniture, lighting, art and accessory sourcing

• FF&E specifications and schedules

• Client and vendor meetings

• Coordination with contractors and trades

• Site visits and field verification

• Procurement and project installations

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to understand not only how to design a beautiful space, but how to successfully bring that design to life.

Required:

• Degree in Interior Design or a related field

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience with an interior design firm, architecture/design-build firm or comparable professional design environment

• Strong SketchUp skills

• Experience creating floor plans and elevations

• Understanding of materials, finishes, scale, proportion and space planning

• Ability to read and understand architectural/construction drawings

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Reliable transportation for local project and vendor visits

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

Studio Designer, Slack, ClickUp, Ai Tools, construction documentation, cabinetry and millwork, FF&E specification or direct coordination with clients, contractors and vendors.

You're creative, but you're also detail-oriented.

You enjoy designing, but you also want to understand how things are constructed.

You notice when something doesn't line up. You ask questions. You take initiative. You're comfortable receiving feedback and equally comfortable contributing an idea.

And you're looking for a studio where you can continue developing your skills while having a meaningful role in real projects.

Desa Design Studio is a Naperville-based interior design studio specializing in residential and boutique commercial interiors.

Our projects range from renovations, kitchens, baths and custom furnishings to offices, hospitality, wellness and other commercial environments. Our integrated approach gives our designers exposure to design, documentation, sourcing, construction, procurement and installation.

Please submit your:

• Resume

• Portfolio of professional interior design work

• Examples of SketchUp and/or technical drawing work

Along with your application, we'd love to know a little about what you're looking for in your next role and where you'd most like to grow as a designer.

We care about great design—but we care just as much about curiosity, communication, attention to detail and the ability to solve problems. We look forward to seeing your work!
