Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team, responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems across various commercial and industrial sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, with experience in system design, low voltage wiring, and schematics interpretation. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing technical expertise to ensure safety compliance and system reliability. Candidates should be familiar with blueprint reading, CAD drawings, fire sprinkler fitting, and construction inspection processes. A background in fire alarm sales or service technician experience is a plus. The position involves working with hand tools, power tools, sensors, and NEC standards to deliver high-quality service.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure fire alarm systems according to blueprints, schematics, and system design specifications
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm components including sensors and low voltage wiring
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on existing fire alarm systems to ensure optimal operation
- Read and interpret schematics, CAD drawings, and technical manuals related to fire alarm and electrical systems
- Assist with construction inspections to verify compliance with safety codes and standards
- Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for installation and repair tasks
- Coordinate with project managers and clients to ensure timely completion of projects
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed for compliance and record-keeping purposes
- Ensure adherence to NEC standards and local fire safety regulations during all phases of work
Experience
- Proven field service or service technician experience in fire alarm systems or related electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, low voltage systems, sensors, and alarms
- Experience with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, CAD software for system design or layout is preferred
- Familiarity with construction inspection processes related to fire protection systems
- Knowledge of fire sprinkler fitting and mechanical aspects of fire safety equipment is advantageous
- Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment in a construction or service environment
- Prior sales experience in fire alarm or fire safety systems is a plus but not required
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately while working independently or as part of a team
