Role Description: This is a part-time, on-site Dermatology Physician Assistant role based in New Castle, IN. The Dermatology Physician Assistant will evaluate and manage patients with a variety of medical and surgical dermatologic conditions under physician supervision. Daily responsibilities include performing focused skin exams, obtaining medical histories, formulating differential diagnoses, and developing treatment plans. The role involves performing minor dermatologic procedures within the scope of practice, educating patients on diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive skincare, and documenting visits accurately in the electronic medical record. The Dermatology Physician Assistant will collaborate closely with dermatologists, staff, and front-office teams to support efficient clinic flow, timely follow-up, and high standards of safety and quality.
Qualifications
- Current Physician Assistant license in the state of Indiana, along with NCCPA certification (or eligibility) and DEA registration or eligibility.
- Prior experience in dermatology is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform thorough skin examinations, recognize common and complex dermatologic conditions, and participate in evidence-based treatment planning.
- Competence in performing or learning in-office dermatologic procedures (e.g., biopsies, cryotherapy, simple excisions, and other minor procedures) within the PA scope of practice.
- Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain medical information clearly, provide counseling on skincare and sun protection, and support patients of diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records, accurate documentation, and efficient time management in a busy clinical environment.
- Commitment to collaborative, team-based care, adherence to infection control and safety protocols, and continuous professional development in dermatology.
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program; BLS certification required, with ACLS or other relevant certifications considered a plus.
