We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referrals Coordinator Specialist to join our healthcare team. This position involves processing both clinical referrals for dermatology and Mohs surgery as well as requesting insurance referrals from primary care physicians. It will also involve chart preparation, phone triage and greeting and checking in and out patients for dermatology and Mohs surgical visits.

Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage by reviewing health insurance policies, including managed care plans, to confirm eligibility and benefits prior to services.
- Obtain necessary referrals from primary care physicians or specialists according to clinical protocols and insurance requirements.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR) systems to accurately document insurance information, referrals, and related communications.
- Communicate effectively with insurance providers to resolve coverage issues, obtain pre-authorizations, and clarify policy details related to CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and ICD coding.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of all medical records and patient information during verification processes.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to coordinate appointment scheduling based on insurance authorizations and referral approvals.
- Stay informed about health insurance policies, updates in medical coding standards, and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure accurate processing and adherence to regulations.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical office environment or dental office setting is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies is essential.
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Experience managing electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) systems efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
