We are currently looking for a Lead Specialist: FinOps aka Technology Cost Optimization Lead, Technology Financial Operations Lead, Enterprise Technology Financial Lead to join our Durban team.
Role Overview: Leading the group FinOps capability in driving technology cost visibility, management and optimization across all platforms, including public cloud, on-premise software and hardware assets. This role will work in close collaboration with other business areas such as Technology, Product, Finance, Commercial and Procurement, providing FinOps consulting, advisory and analytics services in support of the organization's strategic direction.
Job Description
Responsibilities:- Partner with business and external teams to understand technology consumption across cloud and on-premises platforms.
- Advise on licensing agreements and collaborate with tech asset teams.
- Review technical roadmaps for cost implications and financial approval.
- Work with commercial teams on new market technology requirements and identify cost risks/opportunities.
- Ensure accurate technology costing for internal/external proposals and collaborate on vendor cost optimization.
- Lead cloud/on-premise cost optimization (rightsizing, reserved/spot instances).
- Develop showback/chargeback models and maintain unit economics metrics.
- Optimize data collection, transformation, and loading strategies.
- Design FinOps reports and dashboards, providing insights on costs and ROI.
- Ensure consistency in operational and financial data, validate costing data with stakeholders.
- Implement tagging strategies, anomaly detection, and cost reporting workflows/alerts.
- Build predictive models and KPIs for spending and financial performance.
- Develop and execute FinOps strategy, engaging leadership on cost models.
- Create financial procedures, policies, and disaster recovery cost plans.
- Lead quarterly cost reviews, maturity assessments, and financial architecture documentation.
- Improve FinOps service delivery, sharing knowledge and driving compliance.
- Participate in FinOps Foundation, maintain certifications, and create training materials.
- Manage risks to strategy and service delivery, building an organizational knowledge base.

SKills required:
- Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or another related field
- 8 - 10 years' experience in FinOps
- Atleast 3 years' experience in a leadership role
- Experience in Budget Management, Accounting operations, Software licensing, Cloud cost management, Infrastructure build tools, Power BI and Magic orange or similar Financial operations tools
