Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs repairs and/or overhaul of all plant equipment, including but not limited to, molding machines, mills, screw machines, slitters, casting machines, lathes, Bridgeport's, and presses.
- Repairs frequently require use of sophisticated troubleshooting techniques.
- Performs advanced level preventive maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, platen parallelism checks, molding machine alignments, screw machine precision alignments, and control cabinet calibrations.
- Installs and levels new plant equipment, including auxiliary equipment and the installation of support systems.
- Carries out such other general duties as may be delegated by the Facilities Manager or Team Leader.
- Ability to design, fabricate, assemble, and install production equipment improvements to increase throughput and/or efficiencies.
- Operates lathes, drill presses, Bridgeport's, grinders, and other metal working equipment to make repair parts or construct parts for special projects.
- Operate cutting, welding, and brazing equipment.
- Maintain piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Detailed knowledge of computerized preventive maintenance system.
- Review manufacturers technical manuals, anticipated plant use schedules and records to determine and/or recommend preventive maintenance tasks for new equipment.
- Knowledge of basic electrical skills.
- Ability to use all types of high accuracy measuring instruments.
- Ability to fit bearings and spindles.
- Ability to layout and perform intermediate level machining operations from drawings or instructions.
- Ability to troubleshoot plant equipment.
- Knowledge of lubricant characteristics and uses.
- Ability to identify correct parts or equipment components needed to complete tasks. Ability to properly complete purchase requisitions.
- Ability to test operate equipment following corrective or preventive maintenance.
- Ability to perform plumbing and pipe work including sweating of copper pipe, threading pipe, use of stainless-steel fittings, pipe bending techniques, proper pipe support procedures, and the use of PVC pipe.
- Ability to read both mechanical and electrical schematics and prints.
- Basic computer skills.
- H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years of demonstrated responsible experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Graduation from a Technical or vocational school a plus.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
