CRANE OPERATOR Job description Derecktor Shipyard in Mamaroneck, NY, is seeking a certified Derrick Stiffleg Crane Operator. The Crane Operator is responsible to maintain and operate overhead crane and forklift to lift, move and position loads in a safe manner. Operator responsibilities will include the haul and launch of commercial vessels and yachts, and the maintenance and repair of crane and shipyard equipment. Shift hours are from 6:30am to 3:00pm, M-F. Responsibilities/Duties Ability to safely operate a Derrick Stiffleg Crane, hoists, forklift and all mobile cranes at the shipyard. Transfer loads and boats from/to upland cradle positions to/from the water safely Bind loads to cranes Inspect equipment and machinery Keep and update maintenance and activity log Carry out basic repairs to machines Set up machinery based on onboard load computers Coordinate with ground operators and interpret hand and verbal signals Follow safety guidelines and protocols Be able to train unskilled personnel Be able to conduct a jobsite risk assessment and communicate tasks to stakeholders Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Attention to detail Crane Rigging Knowledge of hand signals/ radio signals Safety Consciousness Qualifications At least 3-5 years experience in Derrick Stiffleg Crane operation, minimum 100 tons. Valid rigging and crane operator certification from OSHA approved or state facility. Proven experience working with an overhead crane, in all types of weather conditions. Licensed as required under federal, state and local law. Mechanical experience necessary to perform maintenance and repairs on crane and shipyard equipment. Crane Operator Certificate from a nationally recognized and accredited certification program preferred. Experience in the marine industry a plus.
