Job Summary
Derbyshire Preschool (DPS) is a ministry of Derbyshire Baptist Church. The DPS Director provides leadership, oversight, and spiritual direction, ensuring a nurturing, safe, and academically sound environment. The director is responsible for daily operations, staff management, and building strong relationships with families to promote the ministry's mission and serve as an outreach to the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ministry & Vision: Uphold the mission of Derbyshire Baptist Church and create a faith-based, nurturing atmosphere for children (6 months through Pre-K).
- Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all teaching staff and assistants. Conduct regular staff meetings and in-service training.
- Operations & Licensing: Ensure compliance with all religious-exempt licensing regulations, health, and fire department requirements.
- Curriculum: Oversee the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Financial Management: Work with the Business and Finance Manager to plan, implement and monitor the annual budget and collection of tuition and fees.
- Enrollment & Marketing: Market the program to the community, conduct tours, and manage student registration.
- Parent Communication: Maintain open, effective communication with parents regarding children’s progress and school events.
- Work Hours: During the school year (September – May), the work week will require 27 hours on site – 8 AM – 12:30 PM on Mondays and Fridays; 8 AM – 2 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Summer hours are 20 per week with 8 of those hours on site.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an early childhood setting (teaching or administration).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Must pass required background checks and hold CPR/First Aid certification
