About the Role
As a Cook at Derby Dinner Playhouse, you will play a key role in preparing buffet-style meals that serve large audiences during live theatre performances. You’ll work in a structured, team-focused kitchen ensuring timely and delicious food production in a fun, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook buffet-style menu items following established recipes and quality standards
- Execute high-volume cooking and batch prep efficiently
- Assist with pre-show preparations to ensure smooth service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and portion control guidelines
- Properly store, rotate, and label ingredients and prepared foods
- Collaborate closely with kitchen team members for timely and quality service
- Support setup and breakdown of kitchen stations before and after shows
What We’re Looking For
- 1-2 years of cooking experience in restaurants, catering, or banquet settings
- Skilled in high-volume or batch cooking
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality work
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs
