What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crossing Guard (Part Time-Cambridge-$21/hr) position at Dept of Conservation & Recreation (DCR)?
Crossing Guards are part-time civilian personnel and must be at least 18 years old. They are responsible for assisting students and other pedestrians to safely cross DCR roadways by controlling vehicular traffic.
In addition, the ideal candidate must:
- Report to their post on time and remain there for the required length of time.
- Be visible to the public during school crossing times.
- Adhere to the proper procedures of crossing pedestrians.
- Work in adverse weather conditions.
- Stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be properly attired at all times. All uniforms, including accessories, must be kept neat and clean.
HOURS: Crossing Guard coverage at this location is 7:30-8:30am and 3:00-4:00pm (2:15-3:15pm on Wednesdays) on days when school is in session.
Starting salary is $21.00/hour with annual pay increases.
Training and uniform will be provided. All candidates for the position of Crossing Guard will be required to submit to CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and SORI (Sex Offender Record Information) background checks prior to their first day of employment.
