The Highlights:
The Graduate Admissions Counselor is an entry-level position reporting to the Associate Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions. The Graduate Admissions Counselor has primary responsibility for admissions pipeline process and activities (driving inquiries to application) for graduate programs in the College of Education and in the College of Communication. The Graduate Admission Counselor is responsible for achieving annual recruitment goals for assigned programs and territories by engaging in consistent prospect follow-up and managing recruitment tactics a. The Graduate Admission Counselor will also provide leadership and oversight in other specialized roles and projects as determined by the Associate Director after evaluating the professional strengths, experiences, and interests of the candidate selected for the position, in addition to the needs of the office. 


What You'll Do:

  •  Recruitment and Admission:
    -Manages the admission funnel for a portfolio of graduate programs and proactively and reactively engage with and counsels’ students throughout the enrollment funnel by advising, providing information and encouragement throughout through emails, phone calls, text and other methods of engagement in a timely manner
    -Serve as the central admissions expert with deep understanding of all graduate degree programs across the College of Education and the College of Communication. Maintain a deep understanding of each graduate program's unique requirements and processes.
    -Achieve performance goals for each term by maintaining targeted conversion metrics at each stage of the admission process on a consistent basis;
    -Implement, monitor, and achieve annual recruitment goals for assigned programs and territories, including engagement in consistent prospect follow-up, routine tracking procedures, and development of reports on the inquiry and applicant pools;
    -Conduct recruiting events both on-campus and virtually to recruit graduate students. This will include admission interviews, campus visits and tours, open houses, information sessions, etc.
    -Maintain student appointment schedule for prospective students and applicants (scheduled & walk-ins) as needed.
    -Represent the College of Education and the College of Communication at recruiting events such as education fairs, career fairs, community, and other business-related events.
    -Will manage the operation of the front service desk including supervising student workers in the delivery of quality customer service to prospective students. As the supervisor will ensure that events and the customer service area is adequately staffed by student workers for maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Graduate Application and CRM Management:
    -Read and evaluate applications for admission and participate in the admission committee that makes admission decisions, while appropriately adhering to all policies and procedures.
    -Maintain a thorough knowledge of Slate data and prioritize updating of existing queries and reports to promote awareness and informed decision making around graduate recruitment efforts; provide ad hoc lists to key stakeholders as appropriate, to assist with recruitment efforts of graduate and international
  • Project Management and Continuous Learning:
    -Will have the opportunity based on professional interest and needs of the office to participate in projects within the office's administrative service areas.
    -Stay up-to-date with industry trends, program updates, and best practices in graduate student recruitment and enrollment. Proactively seek opportunities for professional development to enhance counseling and enrollment management skills.
  • Recruit and cultivate current students and alumni as program ambassadors. Supervise all student ambassadors (7-20) and tour guides who aid with recruiting events.
     

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two (2) to (4) years of combined experience in corporate recruiting, project management, event planning, public relations, sales, marketing and business development required. Preference given to candidates who have experience in college admission or in a university setting.
  • This role will serve as a liaison with either the College of Communication or the College of Education. Candidates who have prior experience in, or knowledge of, the education or communications fields of study or practice, strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals (faculty, staff, students, etc.).
