Position Description Summary :
The Occupational Therapist provides direct individual and small-group therapy services, along with consultation to teachers, parents, and educational and clinical staff. The role includes designing, implementing, and evaluating individualized intervention programs tailored to each child’s needs, as well as contributing to Evaluation Reports (ERs), Reevaluation Reports (RRs), and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The Occupational Therapist participates in student staffings and IEP meetings as needed and collaborates with teachers, speech-language pathologists, instructional assistants, and families to implement therapeutic strategies across settings, including the therapy room, classroom, and home environments. In addition, the position includes supervision and evaluation of occupational therapy student interns from Duquesne University, Chatham University, and the University of Pittsburgh.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate student skills and identify student needs through observations and standardized assessments
- Develop measurable goals and monitor progress
- Participate in IEP meetings to share evaluation results and student goals
- Contribute to ERs, RRs, and IEP development while maintaining accurate and timely documentation in accordance with school procedures.
- Collaborate with educational and clinical staff to support student outcomes
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
- Current Pennsylvania Occupational Therapist license or eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure
- Successful completion of a pediatric clinical affiliation or experience working with pediatric populations.
- Current professional liability insurance coverage.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Clearances Required
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (ChildLine)
- FBI Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Record Check
- Protecting God’s Children training (as a condition of employment)
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of pediatric occupational therapy experience
- Experience working in educational settings with children with developmental disabilities, hearing loss, or communication disorders.
