This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).

- Incumbent is an expert advisor to senior executive management officials in the Office of the Secretary of Defense regarding military community and family program policies.
- Determine and report the most accurate status of the overall quality of life of members and their families, especially imperative during times of intense deployment in harms’ way.
- Formulate Department policies and influences timely and critical changes as a result of pulsing the evolving urgent needs of the Total Force and their families
- Represents MCFP in professional interactions with senior executives at various management levelsthroughout OSD, the Joint Staff, Secretaries of the Military Department, Directors of DefenseAgencies and similar DoD components.
- Oversee content development of surveys and manages extensive research projects to develop policy positions on a variety of high-level issues of vast scope and critical importance.
- Lead MCFP research forums, working groups, and communities of practice focused on quality-of-life issues, family readiness, and emerging trends affecting the military community.
Conditions of employment
