The Transportation Planning and Management Division (TP&M) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. The Division’s responsibilities include planning street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings, ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.

TP&M is seeking a motivated candidate to support creative communications and engagement efforts within the Public Engagement Group (PEG), a critical outreach support team for the TP&M Division. PEG supports Vision Zero safety initiatives cited in the agency's Strategic Plan and NYC Streets Plan and has been critical to the agency's public engagement strategy. PEG also provides capacity for public input in the development of Street Improvement Projects (SIPs) and supports the explicit goals of Project-Based Outreach and Public Awareness.

Under the direction of the Creative Communications Lead, the candidate will serve as the team’s Public Engagement Content Manager (PECM), supporting the development, editing, organization, and maintenance of the team’s reports, publications, digital platforms, educational resources, and other communications products. Working closely with Project Managers (PMs), designers, and internal stakeholders, the role will review and edit content, organize complex information, and help ensure communication products are clear, accessible, and engaging for a variety of audiences. The role will support the continued development of recurring deliverables, templates, and guidance materials to improve consistency and usability across the team.

Responsibilities include supporting the Project & Initiatives website, including reviewing content, coordinating page updates, establishing project pages and user accounts, and assisting with other routine site administration. Additional responsibilities include maintaining internal SharePoint resources, onboarding and training materials, and supporting the development of internal and external communication materials. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in content management, copy editing, technical or publication editing, website administration, SharePoint or content management systems, digital publishing, or public engagement. The ideal candidate is organized and detail-oriented with strong writing, editing, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:
Strong graphic design skills, including experience with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent design tools. Experience designing across print, digital, and interactive formats. Understanding of branding, accessibility standards, and design systems. Ability to translate creative direction into effective outputs. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to work effectively with leadership, content teams, and PMs. Interest in exploring innovative engagement strategies, including prototyping, pilot campaigns, and new media formats.

Additional Information:
The schedule is normally Monday through Friday. Shifts can be staggered to include some early morning or evening events as needed. Hours/ Shift: 35hrs/ 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

Minimum Qualifications



1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Residency Requirement


New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
