What are the responsibilities and job description for the ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST position at Department of Toxic Substances Control?
As an Engineering Geologist you will have the opportunity to:
- Oversee all aspects of investigation and cleanup related to assigned hazardous waste and substance sites
- Provide geologic and regulatory expertise in evaluation of sites under cleanup consistent with CERCLA, RCRA, or State Corrective Action processes
- Evaluate complex geology, hydrogeology, vapor intrusion, and contaminant fate and transport data to support remedial investigation or action
- Coordinate and oversee field activities including groundwater monitoring, soil gas sampling, and well drilling and installation
- Develop and manage contracts in support of remedial investigation or action
- Prepare public participation documents and notices, present status updates on behalf of DTSC at public meetings
- A BS or MS in geology or related discipline
- Professional Geologist (PG) or Geologist in Training (GIT) preferred
- Has experience working on hazardous waste cleanup site projects
- Has experience performing or managing groundwater monitoring activities
- Has experience managing or overseeing drilling and well installation projects
- Possess strong technical writing skills, proficient using MS Word
- Possess strong environmental data analysis skills, proficient using MS Excel
- Experience using database software, e.g. MS Access, SQL, Rockworks
- Experience in project management, tracking, and scheduling
- Experience in performing budgeting and estimating on environmental projects
- Experience with contract management or development
- Experience with public speaking and meeting facilitation
