Job Description
Under supervision of the NeON Director, the Community Associate plays a key role in building and maintaining relationships between the Department of Probation, community-based organizations, program participants, and local stakeholders. This position supports neighborhood-level programming and services that align with the NeON model, which emphasizes community engagement, client support, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Support community engagement initiatives under the guidance of the NeON Director.
- Serve as a liaison between the NeON site and local stakeholders, community-based organizations (CBOs), and program participants.
- Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of community events, workshops, and public forums.
- Help facilitate communication between NeON program partners and the DOP.
- Enter, track, and maintain participant information, service referrals, and event data.
- Assist the NeON Director with administrative tasks, reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Prepare materials, updates, and reports as requested by the NeON Director for internal and external use.
- Attend meetings, briefings, and community board sessions as a NeON representative.
- Help monitor partner contracts or deliverables related to NeON programming.
- Support operational needs such as outreach, intake, supply management, and logistics.
- Maximum salary is not guaranteed.

Minimum Qualifications
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
Preferred Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Familiarity with NYC communities, especially those served by NeON.
Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
