Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

We are hiring a Materials Management Coordinator for the Division of Education who will assist in providing operational and administrative support to the division’s procurement and materials management teams by performing a wide range of duties that will support the division’s inventory and surplus property management business needs. Responsible for maintaining accurate and current records of the division’s inventory and surplus from the beginning to the end of the inventory life cycle by tracking and maintaining the division’s inventory and supplies and distributing supplies, materials, and packages to division’s staff daily. Maintain a record and filing system for the materials management, to include surplus and procurement processes, and apply specific knowledge of the division’s programs and activities.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with educators, stakeholders, administrators and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to perform business math skills; Possess basic computer skills and data entry skills
  • Ability to follow written instructions and documented procedures
  • Ability to lift, move, and organize materials and supplies as required
  • Maintaining suitable inventory levels by submitting orders to the Education Procurement and Data Coordinator when items are low in stock.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess basic computer skills and data entry skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and/or an inventory management system to include software.
  • Experience working in warehousing, inventory controls, and/or surplus property management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety regulations regarding handling and the storage of inventory and assets.

Driver License: A valid driver’s license is required of DJJ employees to operate a state-owned or leased vehicle.
