Our Office Specialists are a key player in providing clerical support to caseworkers and supervisors at the Child Welfare agency.
We are seeking an Office Specialist to join our Child Welfare team in Newport, Oregon.

Summary of Duties

Child Welfare Program

As an Office Specialist 2, you will:
- Provide support to field staff, agency staff, foster resource families, providers and the public.
- Completing and verifying data entry to ensure all information entered and uploaded into the Child Welfare OR-KIDS information system is correct.
- Process records and ensure that all work within the unit complies with state and federal laws.
- Cover all reception and phone duties as necessary within the team when needed.
- Request records which may include, but is not limited to, police reports, out of state histories, court records, physical or mental health records.
- Acts as a hiring liaison by working with manager to schedule interviews, book rooms, and create packets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents;
OR
- An associate degree in any field;
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions
- Work Locations: Newport (Oregon) Child Welfare Office.
- Travel: Occasional travel for meetings, trainings, and other case related activities. This includes required occasional overnight travel.
- Hours: Regular work week with fluctuating hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Pacific Time); occasional overtime may be needed, including evenings and weekends.
- As part of your job with Child Welfare you may work with hostile and resistant clients in person, by phone, or by email.
- Your competencies minimally include Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and OR-Kids.
- There my be prolonged periods of sitting or standing in front of a computer.
- You will be in an open office environment with noise from telephones, printers, and other staff. The nature of conversations you may overhear may include uncomfortable topics related to child abuse and neglect.
- The employee must have a valid drivers license from the state in which they reside and an acceptable driving record determined by the Background Check Unit.

- Finalists must be cleared by the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) through a fingerprint-based criminal records check.
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
