As a Child Protective Services Supervisor, you will:
Supervise Child Welfare social service staff to ensure that the mission of the Department of Human Services is carried out by providing services directly to children and families in accordance with state and federal laws and good Child Welfare practice and coordinating client services with other state agencies or providers. This includes responsibility for maintaining the cooperative working relationships with community partners and the continuous review of programs and standards which affect the quality, safety and permanency of children's lives. Make decisions about the level and type of services provided to client families. The supervisor is responsible for personnel management, including interviewing, selection of new staff, staff promotions, recommendations for salary increases, reassignment, completing performance appraisals, responding to grievances, rewarding excellent performance and taking disciplinary actions when required.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human services AND two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience;
OR
A bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services AND completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services;
OR
An associate degree AND three years of human services related experience two years of which must have included lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience;
OR
An associate degree and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency AND two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services.

  • Experience implementing organizational objectives and ensuring that the quantity and quality of work is achieved
  • Experience with communicating clearly and respectfully across diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Experience conducting work that requires attention to detail, time management and organization to meet deadlines.

Working Conditions
  • Your work will be conducted in offices, participant's homes, and other community sites.
  • Occasional travel is required for attending meetings, trainings, and other public events. Travel is required and the employee must have a valid driver's license from the state in which they reside.
  • This position may require occasional overnight travel.
  • Some travel may be in hazardous weather conditions.
  • Employee will work a flexible schedule; hours of work may fluctuate based on service needs. Occasional, non-traditional hours may be required, including evening and weekend work.
  • Employee will be on a rotating on-call schedule. The rotating on-call schedule will include evening or weekend work.
  • In this role, you will encounter sensitive material related to trauma, abuse, substance use, and crisis situations. Our team prioritizes a trauma-informed approach, creating a safe environment for both clients and staff.
  • You will interact with a diverse range of individuals, including those who have experienced trauma and may struggle with emotional regulation. This position may involve handling stressful situations that demand rapid decision-making skills.

  • The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship.
