This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Strategic Operations and Regulatory Affairs (OSORA), Office of Attorney Advisor (OAA).

As a ATTORNEY ADVISER, GS-0905-14, you will review administrative adjudicatory decisions for the purpose of identifying and analyzing complex legal issues in order to provide advice and recommend actions concerning these issues and to develop proposed agency actions. EDUCATION: Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, HHS Attorney positions have a minimum requirement of a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an accredited school.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
1) Analyzing legal issues to draft decisions or documents; AND
(2) Interpreting legislation or materials to advise management on how to proceed; AND
(3) Utilizing policies and legislation to review or edit documents for compliance.

AND
Proof that bar status is active, in good standing and eligible to practice in the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia

AND
License:
A current, valid license with eligibility to practice law in a state, the District of Columbia, or any United States territory or commonwealth is a continuing condition of employment for Federal attorneys.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
