What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher position at Department of Education and Early Childhood Development?
Hello and welcome, my name is William Torres Co-Owner, Ramona Santiago Rivera is the owner and we are currently hiring for our brand-new daycare center Grandma Kay LLC! We are so excited to finally begin this journey and look forward to meeting and hiring our future staff. We are currently looking for teachers; candidates must be qualified to teach infant/toddler mix classrooms and preschool/school mix classrooms. This is a full-time position, 40 hours a week. Salary range from $16-$20, please note that we just opened so our salary range will not increase from this. Once we reach max capacity and are able to upgrade our license capacity, we can renegotiate your salary. The hours are as follows.
Monday-Friday
6:30am-5:00pm
Shifts vary, you can work the 6:30am-2:30pm shift, or the 9-5 shift dependent on where we need you the most. Teachers are required to switch shifts if needed during their time here. We have most holidays off and we will provide food from Tata’s restaurant to eat every day for both kids and staff. I’ll provide staff handbooks at orientation.
No prior experience is necessary as long you have the proper credentials. We are willing to hire new teachers looking to get their foot in the door. Please have all of your papers ready to present during the interview. I must ensure that you have the proper credentials to legally work as a teacher in a preschool-classed daycare center. That includes your 2 references. You can check the teacher qualifications page on the EEC website and the updated staff records checklist as your guide. Note: If you don’t have an official EEC teacher certificate then you can send me a copy of your college transcripts and a signed work verification form as proof that you are qualified. Let me know if you need a copy of the work verification form and I will send one over by email. Teachers will undergo a background record check once hired, any violent or sexual criminal history, especially towards children, will not be tolerated and we will not hire you.
Curriculums will be a mix of play based learning and emergent based learning. Play based learning is a curriculum that uses play to develop children’s cognitive, social, and physical skills through exploration, imagination and problem-solving skills. Emergent based learning is a child led approach to learning. Where learning is guided by the interests and questions of the children, teachers will pay attention to the interests and curiosity of the children throughout the day and will work with the program director to create lessons that explore their interests. Please do not hesitate to ask the Program Director for help for any and all questions and concerns regarding the curriculums. As mentioned previously if you are new to the field and feel overwhelmed we are more than willing to help you whenever you need us.
